tw: sexual assault

I'll write in doses. Jane Doe, there she goes again keeping her own evidence. I hold the ledger from years of silence! To maybe one day understand the miserable journey of objecthood. How we are perceived as utilitarian and insufficiently encountered as minds pursuing lives. This reminds me of The Obsolete Man — The Twilight Zone (1961).

What is suppressed will never be destroyed, it relocates.

On an evening walk young girls leave their houses. Into dusk, barefoot and without societal infrastructure to protect them from inevitable harm. Not a matter of if but when, or who but how many. The bureaucratic mazes of alleged shielding are self-fullfiling voids that police and surveil joy while monopolizing every non-negotiable arch of existence.

We live and hurt. We love and harm. And sometimes people are careless creatures whose empathic functions are unreachable. The burden of proper indictment should not fall on the abused. Protective systems often do not exist to prevent harm—they are calculatively designed to protect the perpetrator, in every room of life.

New worlds propogate at the edge of their pissed-on tombstones as we speak. And by the way:

You do not have to tell your story immediately, overnight, or ever. But know there are people and resources ready to listen when or if you decide to. You are loved and lovable.

The crises of our time are calcified wounds not separate. Taboos do not commingle in regulated boxes. They sprawl and occupy more psychic real estate than we want to admit. They dance together in the shadows, heads thrown back in revelry. Dark matter can be instructive. It cannot be erased.

13:45—14:15

Heat makes glass pliable for shaping. An ulcer emits warmth from the abdomen. In the heart it's a map of disturbance and desire interlocked. Everyone has this inner cartography. If we cannot honor it, or are forced to play by someone else's rules, time on earth can feel like a pointless mission. Giving up is an unimaginative option. A wound needs to rest to heal. Yet the wound is commodified while the perpetrating behavior remains subterranean.

14:15—14:43

Silencing hurt metastasizes the need for eventual remedy. Conviction is nonexistent without transmutation. Don't try to decode the timestamps. They're meaningless, for now.

14:50—15:15

I already said no three times. But he's my ride home, and his Dutch accent makes the coercion almost invisible. I grew up watching Walt Disney films. Rape culture in media romanticizes the erosion of boundaries as a form of allure. Windswept by men who conditioned to not know a woman as his equal but to slowly conquer her by any means.

15:18—15:51

A computer scientiest, a death doula, a man in a business suit, several photographers, and two poets gathered in a convent chapel. They took turns sharing their art projects.

15:56—16:06

This ageless wound. Violent myths of eternal power still warp, permit, and legislate our present. One begins to wonder what might occur if compulsion for violence subsided long enough to discover how good it feels to really be here together, each of us in our unique freedoms. Violence, in all forms, is inherently unimagiantive. The Other is not an enemy but a mirror. Hatred for Other is a sugar rush for the psyche. The thief revs past Go, seeing himself above the law. His path forged by patriarchal fairytales regurgitated since the beginning fo time. The rush to find absolute certainty or power is sponsored by institutionalized propoganda, and is also exhaustingly void of imagination.

16:15—17:11

If university brotherhoods violate women, these common interests should be displayed explicitly in all future promotional materials. Has anyone seen the Pope's hat?

17:16—19:01

Many miserable people in power are serving expired contracts that obliterate the beauty of individuation. No wonder they try to assign spiritual homework to others.

19:29—20:42

Systemic change is forged in shared pain and movement. Unyielding, we still demand accountability infrastructures. Yesterday! A numb culture asks those it harms to grow thicker skin. I will always stand against this. Staying soft and pliable takes effort. Rigidity is a fear-based game. When a state elects itself to care for its people, it fails to represent its most vulnerable. When systems meant to shelter and care for individuals instead incite catastrophe, they create another capitalistic loophole: the colonizing white man's dream to convert diversities into statistics. "When they belong to a number, it is harder for them to run away," those playing gods will say. It is sad when you see it. You almost want to ask what went wrong with mother. This evening, I braised lamb and green tea brews before a shower. These small luxuries are not lost on me. Heating pad warming my side of the bed, Alice on hers. I am grateful for a safe place to process. As for ego, I have no choice but to stay with the original mission. I too have been fundamentally altered by the past. Haven't we all? All the more reason to make a map from these stories.

Rape is war. War breeds rape culture. The reason you want to kill the men who hurt us, is because you were forged in the same system of martyr-shaped violence.

16:42—17:02

I don't know a single woman who hasn't been sexually harrassed in one way or another. Flee the company of those who mask extraction for mutuality. I am stopping often these days to stare into the middle distance. I hope the reopening of the Cornell 7 continues to spark necessary revolution. It was always inevitable, opening all these compartments. But now the shadows simply have fewer hiding places. I'm looking forward to some light.

It’s been four or five days since Cornell took over the internet and, as expected, the intensity is already fading.

Meanwhile, women and girls have experienced sexual violence hourly, globally, since the dawn of time, usually w/o an Ivy League name attached to make it national news.

Keep talking about it. But don’t confuse an infographic repost with a really difficult discussion. The dying world lives in the unaudited shadows.

Look at the men you love. Look at what your friends laugh at, what your family excuses, whose behavior gets quietly worked around, and when a woman becomes the problem for naming it. Say something there, please. Stand up for her before it’s threatening her entire life. Thank you!
